Half of all adults over age 50 are at risk of breaking a bone.—keep your bones strong with calcium, protein and vitamin D. We all need at least 1000 mg of calcium daily; women over 50 and men over 70 need 1200mg daily. We also need 400-800 IUs of vitamin D; and, if you’re over 50 you need 800-1000 IUs. Learn more here.

One in two women and up to one in four men over age 50 will break a bone due to osteoporosis or a loss of bone density that occurs with age. Maintain your bone strength by eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and exercise regularly. If you’re concerned about your bone health or risk factors for osteoporosis, talk to your doctor. Osteoporosis screening is recommended for women by age 65 and men by age 70.
