Sarah Janzen, MSW, LICSW, recently joined Stellis Health as a clinical social worker, providing both group therapy and individual therapy to adolescents and adults. “Caring for your mental health is just as important as maintaining your physical health,” says Douglas Hanson, MPA, CEO of Stellis Health, P.A. “With 1 in 20 people living with serious mental illness and 1 in 10 young people experiencing major depression, we’re working to ensure mental health care and support are available locally in our community.”
For the past 10 years, Janzen has worked at a private mental health agency in Plymouth that specialized in intensive outpatient therapy. “I always feel privileged to be invited into someone’s journey and allowed to help them reach their goals and recognize their own strengths,” says Janzen. “We all have the ability to heal, but sometimes need help uncovering our own tools.”
Janzen works with patients ages 14 and up. She has extensive experience working with patients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, chronic pain & mental health, suicidality and more. Proficient in both individual and group facilitation of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Janzen uses many other treatment modalities as well. “In my clinical career, I have enjoyed a dynamic work experience that includes one-on-one counseling as well as group therapy, program development, and maintaining collaborative relationships with other providers,” says Janzen.
Janzen has a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas/College of St. Catherine and a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from St. Scholastica. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota and a Licensed Supervisor by the Minnesota Board of Social Work & Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy. Janzen is also certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy by DBTNCAA.
On a personal note, Janzen enjoys summer boating and being on the lake with family and friends. She has two dogs, Gordo (French bulldog) and Otis (Boston terrier) and enjoys traveling, staying active, gardening, and rollerblading.
