VISIA Complexion Analysis

Complimentary VISIA Aesthetic Consult

A tool to better understand how to care for your unique skin
What is VISIA Skin Analysis?

The VISIA complexion analysis is a complimentary assessment of your facial skin’s health. The system scans your face and captures key visual information on eight areas that affect your skin’s health and appearance including skin pigmentation, pore size, porphyrins (evidence of bacteria), UV spots, photo damage (typically from sun damage), facial veins/redness, texture and wrinkles. With this quantitative assessment of your skin, we’re able to compare your skin’s features to other individuals of the same sex, age and skin type to provide you with your relative skin condition within your peer group.

You’ll receive a personal skin care regime and rejuvenation recommendation. And, as your treatments progress, the VISIA is used to track the changes in your skin and the effectiveness of your skin care program. Your VISIA analysis takes just a few minutes. We’ll review your results and recommendations, focusing on your specific problem areas for up to an hour.

The Visia Skin Complexion Analysis can identify the following conditions and how severe they are affecting each patient.

  • Photo Damage
  • Fine Lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Skin Texture
  • Pore size
  • Bacterial Growth
  • Skin Age
  • Lash Length and Volume
  • Redness
  • UVA damage

The imaging software is used to take a closer look at a range of conditions including:

Brown Spots are lesions on and deeper within the skin such as hyper pigmentation, freckles, lentigines, and melasma. They produce an uneven appearance to the skin. Brown spots occur from an excess of melanin.  Melanin is produced by melanocytes in the bottom layer of the epidermis.  Brown Spots are outlined in yellow in your VISIA report.

Lash length & Volume – Eyelash length and volume is evaluated and can demonstrate improvement in lash length over time for those that use Latisse or Nu-Cil to grow longer lashes.

Pores are the circular surface openings of sweat gland ducts. Due to shadowing pores appear darker than surrounding skin tone and are identified by their darker color and circular shape.  Dark blue circles represent pores. The size of the circle corresponds to the size of the pore.

Porphyrins are bacterial excretions that can become lodged in pores and lead to acne. Yellow circles represent porphyrins.

Red Areas can represent a variety of conditions, such as acne, inflammation, rosacea, or spider veins. Blood vessels and hemoglobin contained in the papillary dermis, (a sub-layer of skin) give these structures their red color. Acne spots and inflammation vary in size and scope but are generally round in shape. Rosacea is usually a larger, diffused area compared to acne. Spider veins typically are short and thin, and they can be interconnected in a dense network of red.

Surface Spots are typically brown or red skin lesions including freckles, acne scars, hyper pigmentation, and vascular lesions. They vary in size and shape and are normally visible to the naked eye. Surface Spots are outlined in blue.

Texture is primarily an analysis of skin smoothness. Texture measures skin color and smoothness by identifying gradations in color from the surrounding skin tone as well as peaks and valleys on the skin surface. Yellow represents raised areas and blue shows depressions.

UV Spots occur when melanin is accumulated just below the skin surface as a result of sun damage. UV Spots are outlined by yellow.

Wrinkles are furrows, folds, or creases in the skin identified by their characteristic long, narrow shape. They are associated with a decrease in skin elasticity and increase in occurrence as a result of sun exposure. Dark green lines represent the most pronounced wrinkles and light green represents finer lines.

Are there Side Effects to Visia Complexion Analysis?

  • The Visia Complexion Analysis system is completely safe to use. The state-of-the-art image capture system does involve minimal exposure to low levels of UV lighting, but at the controlled levels, this should be completely safe. In most cases, the use of this imaging software can help us diagnose areas of concern in the earliest and most treatable stages, avoiding serious health risks.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Complexion Analysis?

  • Men and women who are 18 years or older can benefit from the VISIA Skin Complexion Analysis. This imaging system provides a great assessment of pre-existing skin damage and future aging issues that may arise. If you are looking for a customized skin plan unique to your skin conditions, then the VISIA Complexion Analysis may be right for you.
