What happens during the treatment?
Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment, your clinician will apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to minimize sensation during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion-tracking technology to ensure it is treated evenly. Your clinician will then uniformly roll the HALO handpiece over your skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.
What does HALO feel like?
Thanks to the combination of a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort. The treatment is often described as a warm sensation with occasional prickling, but it remains generally comfortable. After the procedure, patients typically feel warm for an additional 1-2 hours, or slightly longer with deeper treatment levels.
Halo Laser Recovery and Aftercare
What should I expect during Halo laser recovery?
Immediately after your treatment, your skin will look and feel like it’s been sunburned. Peeling typically begins after the first 24 hours, and makeup should be avoided until the peeling process is complete (usually 5 to 7 days). It’s crucial to protect your skin during the initial 24 hours.
Here’s a timeline of what to expect:
- Days 2–3:
- Slight increase in swelling
- Skin may take on a bronzed appearance
- Tightness and dryness as peeling begins
- Days 3–5:
- Swelling starts to subside
- Peeling continues, revealing fresh skin underneath
- Days 5–7:
- Peeling nears completion
- Skin begins to look refreshed and rejuvenated
How do I take care of my skin after Halo laser treatment?
To ensure optimal recovery and results, follow these post-treatment care instructions:
- Use over-the-counter pain medication and cold compresses to manage discomfort and swelling.
- Wash your skin gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.
- Avoid direct sun exposure.
- Keep your skin hydrated.
- Do not pick at peeling skin, as this can disrupt healing.
After peeling is complete, wear a high-SPF sunscreen daily to protect your newly refreshed skin from damaging sun exposure.
When can I exfoliate after a Halo laser treatment?
Allow your skin to heal naturally before introducing exfoliation, which typically takes about a week. During this time, your skin will naturally exfoliate as it peels.
Once peeling is complete and your skin has fully healed, you can reintroduce gentle exfoliation into your routine. However, it’s best to consult with your provider before resuming exfoliating products or treatments. They can offer personalized guidance based on your skin’s progress and sensitivity.
When will I see results?
Initial improvements are visible in just 2–5 days. Skin continues to improve over weeks and months as the dermal regeneration process unfolds.
How many treatments do I need?
Most patients achieve their goals with one or two Halo treatments. To maintain results, we recommend Halo maintenance treatments every 1–2 years.
Your provider will customize a plan based on your unique goals and skin needs.
Whether you prefer a single, more aggressive treatment for faster results or multiple, gentler treatments over time, we’ll create the perfect approach for you.
How long do results last?
With proper skin care, including daily SPF, your results can last for years. Additional treatments enhance the benefits further.
How much does a HALO cost?
Each HALO treatment is tailored to your unique skin and lifestyle. Depending on your needs, one or more treatments may be recommended. Call Stellis Health Medical Skin Care today to schedule a consultation and discover the best option for you.
