Podiatry
Podiatry
Podiatry is the medical science concerned with disorders, diseases, and deformities of the feet, ankles, and lower legs. Podiatrists treat conditions such as bunions, heal pain, ankle pain, diabetic foot ulcers, wound care, warts, skin cancer, hammertoes, corns, calluses, nail fungus, and ingrown toenails. They perform foot and ankle surgery, arthroscopic surgery, prescribe medications, and physical therapy. They also make orthopedic devices like custom foot orthotics and ankle/leg braces.
Michael O’Borsky, DPM, along with Mark Nelson, DPM, work closely with other Stellis Health providers like our family medicine physicians, internists and orthopedic surgeons to provide comprehensive care for all foot and ankle conditions.
Nail Trimming Service
Proper toenail care will improve how you walk and feel. It’s especially important for those with poor blood flow, diabetes and mobility challenges. Aging can lead to thicker and harder nails that are more difficult to cut.
It’s recommended that seniors have their toenails trimmed regularly, ideally every six to eight weeks, using proper techniques to avoid ingrown nails and infections. Routine nail trimming by our podiatrists, Drs. Nelson & O’Borsky, will address thickened and ingrown nails and offers a safer alternative than doing it yourself or going to a nail salon.
A consult is required before scheduling a separate visit for nail trimming. $100 payment is due at the time of service. While insurance doesn’t usually cover this service, if your insurance does pay and you don’t have a balance, we will issue a refund.
