Making a difference in the lives of others – this is the reason many of us were drawn to our roles in healthcare. We enter into the lives of our patients, their families, and our communities at times of stress, trauma, and uncertainty. We bring comfort, relief, and presence.
Sarah Janzen, MSW, LICSW, recently joined Stellis Health as a clinical social worker, providing both group therapy and individual therapy to adolescents and adults. “Caring for your mental health is just as important as maintaining your physical health,” says Douglas Hanson, MPA, CEO of Stellis Health, P.A. “With 1 in 20 people living with serious mental illness and 1 in 10 young people experiencing major depression, we’re working to ensure mental health care and support are available locally in our community.”
For the past 10 years, Janzen has worked at a private mental health agency in Plymouth that specialized in intensive outpatient therapy. “I always feel privileged to be invited into someone’s journey and allowed to help them reach their goals and recognize their own strengths,
More than a half million Minnesotans are food insecure meaning they suffer from health challenges due to a lack of healthy food. “We recently partnered with Second Harvest Heartland’s FOODRx program to deliver healthy food every month to patients with diabetes and cardiovascular disease,” says Douglas Hanson, MPA, CEO of Stellis Health, P.A.
The FOODRx boxes were built by registered dietitians and contain approximately 25 meals each. The boxes are designed to meet dietary and nutritional needs and contain healthy food items like canned fruits and vegetables, whole grains and quality protein sources. For culture specific diets, the boxes are available in three different versions—traditional American, Somali and Hispanic.
Four new Physician Assistants (PA) who recently started practicing at Stellis Health have one thing in common—they wanted to come back to live and work in, or near, the communities where they grew up. Stellis Health strives to be a part of the community beyond medical care. “Our providers have deep roots in the communities we serve and the new physician assistants deepen those roots even further,” says Douglas Hanson, MPA, CEO of Stellis Health, P.A. “Our community connections allow us to know our communities’ needs first-hand and most of our providers are actively engaged in community organizations like Rotary, Lions, local churches and more, where we know you by name.”
All of the new PAs completed the Physician Assistant Master’s degree from Bethel University and are board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
